😈 👼 #GoodOmens: Binge or Cringe? #Review

Did you love Good Omens as much as I did? Did you watch it all in one sititng? Or were you able to spread out the episodes to savor it?

Hey guys! Is Good Omens the story of the best bromance in all of the Universe worthy of an intense 6 episode binge? Or a total cringe? Keep watching to find out!

So I was so, so, so, so freaking excited for Good Omens! I ‘ve been stoked all year for it! I’m not one of those fans that’s been waiting for 28 years for an adaptation of the novel. But I was excited about the writers behind it. I’m a huge fan of Neil Gaiman, although to be honest; I’m not much of a reader, so I haven’t actually read any book version of his works. However, what he’s worked on for Television BIG FAN!

But the series Good Omens did not disappoint! Admittedly, I was mostly super excited for it because David Tennant was in it. I probably would have gotten around to binging the show eventually because of the writers behind it and it looked quirkily delightful, but David Tennant being in it made me over the moon excited for it! I even binged it it all in one sitting! Well, almost one sitting. I saw the first episode late Thursday night after a Tweet from Neil Gaiman on May 30th. Which surprised me, as Amazon promised us May 31st. So of course I had to put sleep on hold and catch the first episode! And then sleep finally got a hold on me, I finished watching the series Friday and as mentioned, did not disappoint!

To be honest, I completely and utterly loved it!

I could have used another episode that was purely Crowley and Aziraphale having a bromance! Sure we get a nice, brilliant even bit of it in episode 3 … but an entire episode of their relationship would have been purely perfect. I loved the Shakespeare bit as it delightful reminder of Doctor Who. And now I truly want a Good Omens & Doctor Who crossover.

Also loved any scene with David Tennant and Michael Sheen together. They really do steal the show, and in the best way! The first couple of episodes were my favorite. It was just a refreshing style of show. The first couple of episodes really have that magical element down. The celestial beings living in modern society. It was very enjoyable watching a demon and an angel being best friends, while enjoying the human comforts of modern society.

The show wasn’t totally perfect, though.

Some bits were rather slow. The setting up of Adam’s friends and the horsemen for example was a bit on the slow side. However, after watching the final episode, it occured to me that Adam’s friends were polar opposites of the four horseman, and I thought that polarisation was brilliant.

My least favorite bit was with the character Shadwell. Apparently, I’m in the minority of this opinion because everyone seems to love the actor Michael McKeen. And the acting was just fine. I just didn’t find his character likeable at all. Especially not after he burned down a beautiful book shop!!! The horror!

And the second half of episode four, minus the harliarus bit with Crowley’s demonic cartoon intervention, felt a bit slow to me. Mostly because there was not enough of Crowley and Aziraphale! Even if Crowley was my true fave, it was not the same without both of them on screen! Their chemistry? Divine perfection!

The bits when they weren’t on the screen together, I found so slow that I was playing Candy Crush Sega on my phone while watching! It just wasn’t the same without them on the screen. Even if God’s narration was very soothing, and the kid playing Adam Young did an amazing job! With his band of friends, I got a Peter Pan vibe from his little gang. I liked how him being normal was the thing that saved the world.

This show is the kind of show you come for the bromance and stay for everything else. It’s kind of like that one cafe you know that has amazing coffee and atmosphere, but you don’t stay too long because of the annoying staff. Or, something like that.

Overall though, this series left me very satisfied. It was incredibly British, so fellow Americans might want to watch with closed captions. Especially with how quickly David Tennant talks in this one, although his accent is very dreamy as always! Yes, though, David Tennant and Michael Sheen totally stole the show in this one. And in the best kind of way!

I’d very much fancy a spin-off of Crowley and Aziraphale having misadventures skiving their angelic and demonic duties and getting away with it. Like, just enjoying life and having adorable tiff’s about what defines good and evil.

But after watching this series, I totally have to read the book now! I was pleased to hear that fans of the book also loved it. It seems critics and fans alike loved the series, and that truly feels like divine intervention because usually the critics don’t get fan-faveorite shows or have something to nitpick! So well done cast & crew of Good Omens, y’all should be VERY proud and thank you so much for such an enjoyable series! I hope to see more in the future!

What did you guys think of the series? Did you binge it all at once? Anything you would’ve changed? Do you think they’ll be a “series 2”? Let’s chat about Good Omens in the comments! And don’t forget to subscribe to join Claire’s Club!

📆 Disc Vs. Disc: The Ultimate #HappyPlanner Disc Size Guide!

“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.”
― Albert Einstein

Hey guys! If you watched the “Why I Love HP” video, linked above, you know one of my fave features of the Happy Planner is the flexibility of their disc system. You might hear the term “rings” and that’s referring to the same thing. Some people like to call them “rings” even though on the MAMBI website it is technically calls them “discs” but to me they’re the same thing so I never bother to correct people because at the end of the day it’s just not worth it.

Speaking of the MAMBI website, as you can see, they have a TON of choices to choose from!!!

How is a Happy Planner supposed to choose?

Well, that’s what this post is for! The ultimate guide to Happy Planner discs. So stay tuned to the end to see them all! Because I mean them ALL! And don’t forget to hit subscribe to join Claire’s Club and hit the bell so you don’t miss one of my new videos posted M-F!

Before we get to the discs, and oh are we going to get to the discs! Let’s first cover the SIZES of the PLANNERS themselves. Because that will help everything make more sense.

So there’s a few different sizes to choose from:

1. Micro (new in 2019) –> 4 mini discs
2. Mini –> 7 mini discs (but you can use the regular discs to expand your planner!)
3. Classic –> 9 regular or expander size discs
4. BIG –> 11 regular or expander size discs
The same sizes apply to the “Happy Notes” too.

FEW that's a LOT of choices right there! Begs the question ... how is a #HappyPlanner to choose? Click To Tweet

Well, I suggest by asking what size planner you want. That depends on what you’re going to use it for!

Some people like the smaller sizes for travelling. The BIG Happy Planner is great for teachers or people with very busy schedules. Me? I’m still obsessed with the Classic Happy Planner with the EXPANDER rings because I love a CHUNKY planner!

I also have a mini that I keep in the car to track my miles as an Uber driver. Or I do when I remember to do so!

So the possibilities are truly endless!

Here’s a close up of each of the discs! I’m 99.999999% sure the mini discs fit the “micro” planner too. As I don’t personally yet own a “micro” planner, I can’t say for certain! But I’m pretty sure because on the shop, they do not have a page for the Micro discs!

So here we go! Onto the discs!

1. Mini Metal (Micro + Mini)
2. Medium Metal (Classic + BIG)
3. Medium Expander Metal (Chunky Classic + BIG Chunky)
4. Mini Plastic Discs (Micro + Mini)
5. Medium Plastic Discs (Classic + BIG)
6. Medium Expander Plastic Discs (Classic Chunky + BIG Chunky)

As mentioned, what size to choose from depends on what you PLAN on using the PLANNER for. See what I did there?

⏳How to Be Creative When You’re ~#SOBusy~!

Hey guys! Happy Monday!

You know, I’m in the business of time. My obsession with time came from my research of time travel, I had to research — or attempt to research — temporal physics for my time travel novel the Quest of the Prodigy. And let me tell you, that’s a true headache in the making, trying to understand temporal physics!

But the thing is, you don’t need to be an expert in temporal physics to master the time you have on Earth. And that’s why I got in the business of time management! Because I believe EVERYONE is deserving to have a well balanced and creative life.

And that’s just it, isn’t it? Balance.

Deep down we already know how to have that so called balance. We know how to squeeze creativity into your day. But what ifI told you: you can work your day AROUND creativity! No time travel necessary!

While it’ll take more than one post to show you how, let me tell you: #creativeproblems no more is possible! By working your day around creativity, you’ll feel ten times more satisfied with each day! Here’s four actionable steps to get you started!

These steps are designed to get you in the creative spirit, so you can spend less time worrying about not being creative and more time doing!

Step 1) Get Passionate!!!

A. Surround yourself with your fave things! Make a list of things that make you happy. If you can, fill the room with as much of them as possible. This will spark creativity just by moving your eyeballs around the room! When you’re happy, you’re more creative!

What makes you happy? Listing them down is helpful! Keep your “happy list” handy so when you’re feeling down or discouraged you can refer back to that list and be reminded how much in the world doesn’t suck!

B. Talk about Creativity on Twitter!

Talking about creativity is an amazing way to spark some creativity. If you’re like me and don’t have any creative friends in real life, Twitter is an amazing community to get involved with! Like when I’m in a rut for my writing, tweeting about #AmWriting always gets me inspired! The best part about using Twitter is there’s a hashtag for everything! If you’re more of a visual person, Instagram is also a great choice to get your creativity vibe going!

It’s very therapeutic to discuss what you love on Twitter. Remember that happy list you made? You can talk about anything on there, too! Doesn’t have to be just about your current projects. Having a community of people who love the same things as you makes your “weird” activity (like writing) feel totally normal! And trust me, having a support community is so, so invaluable!
If you don’t know how to start on Twitter, the best thing is to simply jump right in! Twitter is my fave because every conversation tweeted is an open invitation to either ReTweet (share) or Comment. There’s no pressure or anything like that! Whatever your passion, there’s almost a guarantee there’s a community behind it (or hashtag) and if not — you can start your own!

C. And then, if you’re still feeling stuck … remember why you started! You started for a reason. Something, some kind of spark struck a cord with you! Some memory of when you first was introduced to the thing you love to do! Recall that memory. Recall that feeling. That feeling of first discovery is so, so important. And the best part is, it doesn’t have to go away. You can reflect on that feeling any time you want! And I find when I’m in a creative rut, reflecting on that first spark always gets me motivated!

Step 2) Right Playlist = Right Mood!

Create a playlist via Spotify, Apple Music or Pandora that’s *just* for your creativity! Music is a huge asset when it comes to getting in the right headspace for your project. For example, every story I’m working on, one of the first things I do is create a playlist for that particular project! I imagine my project as if a TV show or movie, and my playlist is the soundtrack. And then, when I get stuck, all I have to do is listen to that playlist to get back into the spirit! It doesn’t always work, because creative block is real. But it certainly helps the majority of the time!

What kind of music gets you in the creative groove? Drop a comment and let’s chat!

Step 3) Set Realistic Goals!

So, I feel like this one is self explanatory, but I also feel like this is a lesson that’s easily forgotten. Like I feel that it’s rather easy on social media to feel like we have to “one up” each other on “doneness”. Productivity is not a competition. Productivity is not a game. Productivity is not a race. Productivity is a sprint. And your only competition is yourself! But just enjoy the process. Focus on what you’re achieving, day by day. After all, comparison is the thief of joy! Another lesson that’s easily forgotten. Just work on your project a little bit at a time. Even twenty minutes a day is better than nothing! Not only will that help you create good creative habits, but it will also help you improve your talent!

Step 4)Feel Physically Good!

Speaking of good habits, feeling good is imperative to being creative. Whether it’s eating right, working out or simply wearing comfortable clothing; feeling good is important to the creative mind. It bestows confidence on you and gives you energy. Try journaling on how you’re feeling each day, so you can keep track of what kind of activities or behaviors makes you feel the best.

And that’s it for today! Obviously a lot to talk about this subject, so check out my website if you need a helping hand on balancing your life! Because my productivity services are totally affordable and will be the game-changer you need to get your shit together! I believe in you! You got this! But having a little help goes a long way on preserving your sanity & energy! Let’s work together!

My Graduation Speech to My 2008 Self! What I Wish Someone Would’ve Told Me About Fear!

Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Oops, sorry, wrong introduction am I right?

Hi Claire! This is Claire! You’re future you! The graduation speech to yourself that the laws of physics will never able to allow! But, luckily, on the Internet anything is possible! Even giving speeches to yourself from ten years ago!

Hey, Past Claire! You know, some days I’m really disappointed in you. You’ve let the uncertainties of life dictate your career choice. You didn’t want to go into education, because at the time you were looking into it, you also were reading news headlines of massive teacher strikes and you were worried about job security.

Don’t let the news scare you.

You wanted to be an English major, specifically Shakespeare, but you were worried about what jobs could fall under that category.

Don’t let unknown possibilities scare you.

You thought about sales. You were amazing at sales! In 2008, you were the top third salesperson in the country at New Balance Shoes! Your secret sauce was actually *listening* to the customer!

But you didn’t want the compounding pressure and worried about making numbers every month or year drive you crazy.

Don’t let manager’s expectations scare you.
You didn’t want to do anything with a lot of math and science. Because you were always told you weren’t smart, even by some teachers, and you were scared they might be right.

To this day, we still kind of think that deep down.

Don’t let your haters scare you.

So you decided to be an author. You were a bit scared of not being good enough, because we kind of suck at grammar. Like, a lot! Also, you hid who you were for years. Because you were scared about what they would say based on presumptions and stereotypes.

Don’t let their misunderstandings scare you.

You got yourself publishe. And yeah, your book flopped. Got terrible reviews. Said it was as if written by a sixth grader they did! No matter how much money and time we spent on editing! And you were just about to give up on that, too.

Don’t let negative feedback scare you.

So here is the real advice:
  1. Don’t let fear control you.
  2. Don’t pretend to be someone else to conform.
  3. Spend your money wisely.
  4. Spend your time even more wisely.
  5. Don’t worry so much about being perfect.
  6. Don’t write a story based on what you think readers want, they’ll hate it.
  7. Work hard.
  8. Spread kindness.
  9. Don’t let mentors’ voices get in your head.
  10. Be the own voice in your head.

You keep going, even when you’re scared. You keep going even when you know it won’t make a difference. Because that’s where you’re wrong, inner-voice-Claire.

Would I do anything different? I say I would. But truth is, I’ve been living the same life for so long, I don’t think I’d really change as much as I said I would have done things way different. It’s always hindsight.
But that doesn’t mean my future can’t change. Just because I’ve wasted the last decade, and really the last TWO decades based on what I was worried would happen or what other people led me to believe … doesn’t mean we can waste another ten more years doing the same.

It is time to embrace my true Self, loud and proud! I am a Geek. I am weird. I am a Creative. And I’m obsessed with time. I’m not going to try to be something I’m not, anymore. I’m not going to try and be “normal”.

So if you’re just graduating, or have had graduation on your mind being the time of year of Grad parties, do your past Self a favor and start living the life you dreamt of during your graduation! You owe it to yourself! And if you already are, congratulations! That’s the true graduation gift: living the life you promised yourself all those years ago!

So what advice would you give your past Self at graduation? Share in the comments and let’s chat! Thanks for watching!
